About us

Image Framers is run by three practicing artists: Ken Gunning, Marita O'Hanlon and Ian Jermyn. Their shared background in making and materials informs how they approach framing, with an understanding of how presentation shapes the way a work is seen.

Ken Gunning

Ken has owned and run Image Framers since 2010. A multidisciplinary artist working across mixed media, photography and installation, his practice explores found objects and materiality, creating structures that invite the viewer to piece together layers of meaning and history. He graduated with Honours from Atlantic Technological University Sligo in 2018. Ken serves on the Sligo Arts Council panel and has worked with The Model Sligo, the Hamilton Gallery and the Hyde Bridge Gallery.

Marita O’Hanlon

Marita is a visual artist based in Sligo and a graduate of the National College of Art and Design with a BA (Hons) in Education and Fine Art (2023). Her painting practice explores emotional landscapes shaped by light, colour and the shifting qualities of natural spaces, drawn from the terrain of the west of Ireland. Winner of the Hamilton Gallery Award at Cairde Visual 2025, she is the recipient of an upcoming solo exhibition at the Hamilton Gallery.

Ian Jermyn

Ian is a visual artist and maker originally from the east coast of Australia, now based in Sligo on the northwest coast of Ireland. A graduate of the University of Tasmania in Applied Science with a focus on marine environments and subtidal kelp ecology, his practice spans illustration, printmaking, textile work and fabrication. His work draws on the coastal landscape and a long-standing interest in repurposing materials and making from scratch.
